Popular Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Iyabo Ojo has been showered with love, praise, and congratulatory messages from her fans, industry colleagues, and well-wishers after proudly unveiling the newly renovated version of her business establishment, months after it was severely damaged in a fire incident.
It would be recalled that back in July, Iyabo’s business office and lounge were engulfed in flames, leaving behind massive destruction. The actress, who documented the unfortunate incident in a video that circulated widely on social media, recounted how the swift response of the Nigerian Fire Service, along with the relentless support of her staff members, helped reduce the extent of the loss by salvaging parts of the building.
Despite the chaos and damages caused by the fire, Iyabo Ojo maintained a strong spirit, thanking God for sparing lives. She explained that although the incident was a test of faith, divine intervention preserved her and her team. According to her, “The devil tried me, but mercy spoke louder.”
On Saturday evening, the actress returned triumphantly to Instagram to share an emotional video showcasing the beautifully renovated space. Beaming with joy, she captioned it with gratitude: “Thank you Lord, to you be all the glory.”
Backlash and controversy following the fire
The fire outbreak didn’t just cause property damage but also sparked controversy. In the days after the incident, several men in Lagos were seen in viral videos chanting curses against Iyabo Ojo, attempting to link her name to the tragic passing of late singer Mohbad. The actress quickly clarified that she never accused anyone of directly causing Mohbad’s death and called out those who, over the years, have openly wished her dead, targeted her children, and sought to destroy her livelihood without intervention from authorities.
Massive support from colleagues and fans
In the midst of these challenges, Iyabo Ojo has continued to receive overwhelming support. Many of her Nollywood colleagues, close friends, and loyal fans took to her comment section to celebrate her resilience and congratulate her on the grand reopening of her establishment.
Her best friend, actress Lola Alao, described her as a compassionate and generous woman who often goes out of her way to fight for others despite her own personal struggles. iamlolaalao wrote: “My dear, am so happy for you, to God be the glory 🙏❤️❤️.”
Comedienne princesscomedian added: “Thank God for restoration 🙏 Iyabo ògo ẹ òní wọ mi lorukọ Jésù 😍.”
Another supporter, isioma_yocambel, expressed excitement about the reopening, recalling fond memories of the popular eatery: “Only God🙅♀️ Believe🙌🙌 I miss the Amala from Fespris, one of the best with great space 🙌🙌🙌 I need to visit asap.”
