Controversial Nigerian clergyman Odumeje, popularly known as the “Liquid Metal,” has once again sparked nationwide debate after openly criticizing renowned pastors such as E.A. Adeboye and David Oyedepo for maintaining silence amid Nigeria’s ongoing governance crisis. The prophet, known for his dramatic preaching style and bold remarks, accused top religious leaders of failing to use their influence to speak out against corruption, economic hardship, and poor leadership plaguing the nation.
During a recent sermon, Odumeje described Nigeria’s government as “the worst anywhere in the world” and “deeply corrupt,” expressing disappointment that those who should be moral voices in society have chosen to remain quiet. According to him, silence in the face of injustice is as dangerous as corruption itself, and it allows bad governance to thrive unchecked. He further urged Nigerian citizens, especially the youth, to wake up and reclaim the country from politicians who he said have turned governance into a business empire for personal enrichment rather than national development.

Odumeje compares Nigeria to Ghana
Drawing comparisons between Nigeria and neighboring Ghana, Odumeje lamented the country’s economic decline and the continuous fall of the naira against the Ghanaian cedi. He reminded listeners that there was a time when Nigerians mocked Ghana’s economy, but the tables have turned. “Before, we were the ones saying ‘Ghana must go,’ but today, it is Ghana saying ‘Nigeria must go,’” he said, expressing dismay at the reversal of fortunes. The preacher also complained about the rising cost of living, high fuel prices, and the indifference of many citizens who now view hardship and bad governance as normal parts of life.
According to Odumeje, the moral decay in leadership has affected every level of society. He noted that poor governance is like a disease that trickles down from leaders to their children, robbing the next generation of values, discipline, and respect. “When there is a bad father, the children will suffer it,” he said, emphasizing that failed leadership leaves lasting damage on a nation’s identity and moral foundation.
Odumeje calls on religious leaders
In his passionate outburst, Odumeje called on respected figures such as Adeboye and Oyedepo to take stronger stances on national issues. He argued that pastors, being among the most influential voices in Nigeria, have a divine responsibility to challenge injustice and hold leaders accountable. “These are fathers of the nation,” he said, “and when they remain silent, corruption grows louder.”
The clergyman also revisited a campaign promise allegedly made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recalling that the president once vowed to provide 24-hour electricity within four years or not seek re-election. Odumeje questioned why Nigerians have stopped demanding accountability for such promises, stressing that leadership without accountability destroys progress. “How many of you saw that video?” he asked rhetorically, noting that many Nigerians have become too tolerant of government failures.
He ended his sermon with a fiery declaration, insisting that silence is no longer an option. Odumeje called for what he described as a “spiritual revolution,” encouraging Nigerian youths to unite and take back control of their future. “We can never keep quiet. This is our country. There must be a revolution. Amen,” he declared to loud cheers from his congregation.
Odumeje said …
“We can never keep quiet. This is our country. There must be a revolution. Amen. The worst government anywhere is Nigeria. The worst corrupted government that nothing can change it is Nigeria. See, we that Ghana is insulting Nigeria. Even the money of Ghana has value than Nigerian’s money. Ghana money before, that was insulted. We were insulting Ghana money before. But today, the money of Ghana now, I see it in the time of Goodluck. On Aba, fuel is higher price. And now, nobody to talk. Things are going costly. Nobody cares anymore. Nobody is talking because people have already seen a bad government in Nigeria as a normal life. All the youth of this country arise and take back. Let us arise and take back our country from the businessmen that call themselves leaders. People we are talking today before, Ghana must go. In Nigeria. All on back, Ghana must go. Now Ghana now, they tell us in Ghana now, Nigeria must go. When there is a bad people in leadership, their children will be feeling it. When there is a bad government, a bad father, the children will not have respect. When Tinubi is about to enter the government, they say, if I enter this government, just give me four years. If I don’t put 24 hours electricity, don’t vote for me for second term. The video, I’m with it. How many of you saw the video? Yeah, I saw it. Now, it’s no more talking about it. These are people that are supposed to be talking about the bad government at Adeboye or Oyedepo. They’re supposed to carry it strongly. Fathers. Do you know the setback in Nigeria?”
