A Nigerian lady has gone viral online after sharing the emotional and shocking messages she allegedly received from her ex-husband following her decision to finally walk away from their troubled marriage.
According to the lady, who posted her story on TikTok under the handle @binyelum24, her marriage was filled with pain, abuse, and repeated acts of infidelity. She explained that she endured a lot before eventually finding the strength to leave and start a new life abroad.
After she relocated overseas, her ex-husband reportedly began sending her messages criticizing her decision to leave and accusing her of using him for personal advancement. In the messages, he claimed she had changed completely since moving to the UK and had become “too independent” after gaining financial stability.
He wrote, “You have moved on because you are in the UK and that’s the reason for all this. If you are in Nigeria, there is no way you will be saying all these things. You married me to achieve your personal goals and then leave. All you can think now is to leave because you have gotten what you wanted.”
The lady revealed that reading the messages made her realize how manipulative and toxic the relationship had become. She described her marriage as the toughest experience of her life and expressed deep gratitude to God for giving her the courage to walk away before things got worse.
While sharing screenshots of the conversation, she captioned the video with a powerful message to other women, urging them not to stay in abusive relationships out of fear or societal pressure. She emphasized the importance of self-worth, self-love, and courage in leaving situations that drain one emotionally and mentally.
She wrote: “POV: You finally summoned courage to leave your abusive and cheating ex-husband. Dealing with a narcissist is the hardest thing anyone could pass through. I thank God I survived and summoned courage to leave in peace and not in pieces. It’s high time women start knowing their worth.”
The TikTok video has since attracted massive attention, gaining thousands of views and comments from users who praised her bravery. Many social media users commended her for speaking out and using her story to inspire other women who might be facing similar struggles.
Some viewers also shared their personal experiences, expressing how hard it can be to break free from emotionally manipulative partners but stressing that peace of mind and safety are far more important than maintaining a toxic marriage.
The lady’s story continues to spark conversations online about emotional abuse, manipulation, and the importance of empowering women to prioritize their mental and emotional well-being.
