A newly inducted Nigerian lawyer has caused a stir online after revealing that she spent almost ₦2 million on her Call to Bar ceremony expenses.
This revelation comes shortly after 4,437 new lawyers were officially called to the Nigerian Bar between September 23 and September 25, 2025. The occasion was graced by top legal dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who emphasized the need for ethical conduct and professionalism in the legal practice.
Law graduate details expenses leading to nearly ₦2M total
The lawyer, who goes by @GirlIsPosh on TikTok, shared a detailed breakdown of her expenses in a viral video. She disclosed that she spent approximately ₦1,945,000 on preparations and participation in the event, highlighting how every item and service contributed to the total cost.
According to her, her outfit alone cost ₦80,000 — a price she described as a discounted rate. Her mother and grandmother, who attended the ceremony, also spent ₦70,000 on their matching attire.
She went further to reveal that her nails cost ₦30,000, while her shoes were purchased for ₦52,500. Her hairstyle cost ₦185,000, and she paid an additional ₦65,000 for professional styling, praising her hairstylist for their creativity and precision.
On her makeup, she said: “My make-up cost ₦80,000, and that was after discount because of how far my location was.”
Adding to the expenses, she disclosed that she flew to Abuja for the ceremony, spending ₦225,000 on flights, while her accommodation for five nights cost ₦160,000. She also mentioned that photography services added a little over ₦300,000 to her total expenses.

The video sparked a wave of mixed reactions across social media. While some users applauded her transparency and her taste for luxury, others criticized what they described as an unnecessary show of extravagance for a ceremonial event.
In her caption, the young lawyer humorously pleaded with TikTok not to promote her video to “angry birds,” noting that she was simply sharing her experience and didn’t want backlash from viewers who might misunderstand her post.
