A Nigerian social media content creator has become the subject of massive conversations online after sharing a rather unusual but inspiring story of how he unexpectedly received money from a wealthy man simply because he reached out to check on him without any hidden agenda.
The young man, identified as Pooja on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that he had randomly sent a casual message to a “big man” just to greet him and find out how he was doing. To his surprise, this simple act of kindness and concern ended up bringing him an unexpected financial reward.
In his words, he explained: “I messaged a ‘big man’ recently and just told him I wanted to say hello and check up on him. After a few days, he messaged me that he was expecting a follow-up chat about billing. He said when he sees chats like that, billing will follow. Eventually, he asked for my details, and I dropped it. 🤣”
He went on to share the lesson behind his experience, writing: “Moral lesson: Just send random chats to that big man, ask about their family and work because they are always lonely, and people don’t really check up on them. We believe they are always alright.”
The narration quickly went viral, sparking widespread debates among Nigerians. While many hailed the gesture as proof that wealthy people also appreciate simple human interactions, others were skeptical and criticized the idea of sharing bank details so easily.
One user identified as Samuel strongly disapproved, noting that Pooja should have politely declined when asked for his account details since his original intention was just to check on the man. Samuel wrote: “You should have just declined when he asked for your account details, i don do am before. Him: send your account details. Me: Sir thank you so much but i just wanted to check up on you because i had you in thoughts.”
Another user, Michael, decided to respond humorously by tagging Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote in his reaction. His playful comment read: “@AlikoDangote good evening Da Alhaji, I just want to check up on you sir following the recent issues that occurred between you and PENGASSAN. Hope you are doing well as you should and the family is ok too? More grace in making the country proud and Nigeria great.”

The story has continued to dominate online conversations, with many agreeing with Pooja’s point that even the wealthy crave genuine concern and random gestures of kindness because they are often isolated and assumed to be fine at all times.
On the other hand, some netizens advised caution, warning against the dangers of quickly sharing account details and stressing that true check-ups should remain purely about human connection, not financial expectations. Regardless, the incident has left many Nigerians reflecting on the power of small acts of care and how they can unexpectedly turn into big blessings.
